OhSevenDays is a mindfully made womenswear label creating sustainable staples from dead stock fabrics based in Istanbul, Turkey. OhSevenDays is guided by a growing commitment towards environmental and social issues, working towards a sustainable development together with its suppliers and collaborators at all levels of the value chain. OhSevenDays expects your cooperation and commitment with such efforts. We are committed to promoting sustainable practices focusing on the use of environmentally preferred raw materials, considering product integrity and verification of product claims essential. Environmental and social performance of our suppliers must comply with at least the applicable local, regional, national and international laws regarding working conditions, health and safety as well as environmental protection.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

OhSevenDays and its partners must comply with the laws and regulations in effect on environmental protection in the countries where they operate. Thus, all precautions and measures must be taken on environmental issues in order to limit the impact of our activities on air pollution, soil, environment and human health in general. Vendors and their subcontractors must respect local environmental protection legislation or international industry standards, whichever is higher. All vendors and their subcontractors must measure and progressively reduce their impact on the environment. Everyone must agree to focus on the development and use of technologies which are the most respectful toward the environment.

  • SOCIAL REQUIREMENTS

The company upholds and promotes human rights as given in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all suppliers and buyers must comply with domestic regulations on labour conditions as well as international labor law - at least with the minimums stated in the nine core ILO conventions and the Universal Declaration on Human Rights

  1. Employment Relationship

Obligations to employees under labour or social security laws and regulations arising from the regular employment relationship shall not be avoided through the use of labour-only contracting arrangements, or through apprenticeship schemes where there is no real intent to impart skills or provide regular employment. Vendors and their subcontractors shall adopt and adhere to rules and conditions of employment that respect workers, and, at a minimum, safeguard their rights under national and international labor and social security laws and regulations.

        2.  No Child Labor

There shall be no use of child labour. The age for admission to employment shall not be less than the age of completion of compulsory schooling and, in any case, not less than 15 years."

        3. Safe Working Environment

The company fosters a healthy working environment, working to protect employee health while ensuring occupational safety in order to avoid accidents or injuries.

       4.  No Discrimination, Harassment and Violence

Physical abuse, threats of physical abuse, unusual punishments or discipline, sexual and other harassment, and intimidation by the employer is strictly prohibited. Recruitment, wage policy, admittance to training programs, employee promotion policy, policies of employment termination, retirement, and any other aspect of the employment relationship shall be based on the principle of equal opportunities, regardless of race, color, sex, religion, political opinion, union membership, nationality, social origin, deficiencies, or handicaps. Harassment, corporal punishment and physical, sexual, psychological or verbal abuse is not tolerated in the OhSevenDays supply chain. Vendors and their subcontractors cannot use any form of forced labor including prison labor, indentured labor or bonded labor.

        5.  Fair Compensation

Hours of work shall comply with applicable laws and industry standards. Wages and benefits paid for a standard working week shall meet at least legal or industry minimum standards and always be sufficient to meet basic needs of workers and their families and to provide some discretionary income. Deductions from wages for disciplinary measures shall not be permitted nor shall any deductions from wages not provided for by national law be permitted. Deductions shall never constitute an amount that will lead the employee to receive less than the minimum wage. Employees shall be adequately and clearly informed about the specifications of their wages including wage rates and pay period.

Insofar as the applicable national jurisdiction does not specify a lower figure for maximum working hours, normal working hours are not to exceed 48 hours per week. As a minimum, employees are to be granted the equivalent of one free day within a 7-day period. Insofar as provided for by the applicable national jurisdiction, this day may be granted within a period of up to 14 days.

        6.  Working Conditions

A safe and hygienic working environment shall be provided, and best occupational health and safety practice shall be promoted, bearing in mind the prevailing knowledge of the industry and of any specific hazards. Suppliers shall ensure a safe and hygienic work environment. Supplier’s workers must have access to clean drinking water, sanitary washing facilities and an adequate number of toilets, fire-extinguishers and fire exits. Workplace shall, as well, have adequate ventilation and lighting.

Observation of ILO core labor standards ILO The company upholds the eight core labor standards of the ILO4 . These standards are as follows: – The prohibition of child labor, as per ILO Convention No. 138 („Minimum Age“, 1973) and No. 182 („Prohibition and Immediate Action for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor“, 1999). – Prohibition of forced labor, as per ILO Convention No. 29 („Forced Labor“, 1930) and No. 105 („Abolition of Forced Labor“, 1957).

The promotion (and where possible the assurance) of the same level of remuneration for men and women for work of equal value, as per ILO Convention No. 100 („Equal Remuneration“, 1951).

  • IMPLEMENTATION AND APPLICATION

The company makes every appropriate and reasonable effort to ensure the continuous implementation and application of the principles and values defined in this Code of Conduct, and to rectify any related shortcomings as rapidly as possible. The provision of this piece of information is vital for the consideration of your company to be a supplier for Customer. The signal of this document confirms that Supplier understands its contents and agrees to undertake the obligations it sets fourth.
